The Factory

Entrawood, a purpose-built 11000 m2 facility, is located half way between Johannesburg and Durban in Harrismith. Together with Entrakor, a steel component and upholstery business, we have the capacity to produce up to 5000 furniture components a day.

Entrawood has its own Melamine pressing plant which enables the company to operate independently, improve quality control, reduce stock holding and gives the company the freedom to choose its own melamine designs and adapt them according to changing trends.

We use computer aided manufacturing (CAM) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) software that was developed in house to manage everything from quotations and order taking to cutting lists and component specifications.

The People

Entrawood and Entrakor employ 200+ people from local communities, some of whom have been with the company since inception. All employees undergo extensive in-house training to ensure skills standards match our world-class facility.

The Entra-group Netball and Soccer teams have been taking part in a Worker’s League organised by Old Mutual. And we are very proud of their performance.

We’re proud to be a part of the Maluti Child Care Project, a feeding scheme for between 1,500 to 2,500 orphans under the age of 15 in the neighbouring communities of Harrismith.

The Environment

Entrawood is an active member of Green Harrismith, a project launched by local businesses to protect natural resources in the area. Entrawood has aggressively minimized waste creation and regularly initiates clean-up exercises in the area.

Housing our own melamine plant allows us to produce high-quality product with a finish to match. Melamine is widely accepted as more environmentally-friendly than PVC. Entrakor currently incorporates materials efficiencies from Entrawood into multiple products, saving on costs, reducing waste and supporting environmental sustainability.

Our production line maximises the use of raw material, which reduces waste, cost and time.
